Common Ringlet? - Coenonympha tullia

Common Ringlet? - Coenonympha tullia
Dry Creek, Sanders County, Montana, USA
June 5, 2007

since others are placed to subspecies,
I thought I'd try to sort them all. The lines between subspecies are pretty wishy-washy, since most of them run together where they meet, and they look different in the same place at different seasons. These seem to fit ssp. columbiana best, though the transition into ssp. benjamini might be nearby or even in this area.

Moved from Common Ringlet.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, Common Ringlet
They have variants without noticable spots. I saw a few of those in MN this year, although I haven't seen any for several weeks now. Great shots!

Very nice
Lots of color variation on these here in southern California. Most are drab. Yours is far prettier.
