At the Boyce Thompson Arboretum in Superior AZ, we had several Mantids at the black lighting sheet. Only when I looked at the photos, I saw the unusual black markings. All 3 individuals had them.

Stigmata
The stigmata marks are commonplace among females of Stagmomantis; they vary in color among species. The males may or may not have them; your males do.
