Arizona Moth - Richia herculeana

Arizona Moth - Richia herculeana
Miller Canyon, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
August 21, 2016
On sheet with UV black light. Needs guide page if approved.

This is a much better match! And a much less common find!
Moved from Richia serano.

Richia herculeana
I agree - in this and all MPG, BOLD images the orbicular spot is more pointed, less rounded than for serano. serano also usually has a larger hollow arrowpoint mark below mid PM line than the small dark mark or dot of herculeana. Congrats for digging this out. Though it was the only one I remember collecting, I still figured it was going to turn out being some Western variety of a common trash cutworm pest.

Glad you collected it - it may be only the second US record
Need to check my copy of Lafontaine's MONA fascicle when I get a chance. I won't have it on hand for another three weeks or so when I go back to school.

The shape and color of the orbicular spot don't look quite right
Moved here for now. I'll do some more digging.
