Punishing an enslaver! - Formica exsectoides - female

Punishing an enslaver! - Formica exsectoides - Female
Lowell, Kent County, Michigan, USA
August 23, 2016
Polyergus lucidus, I think. Hoping James Trager can set me straight, if not! Found on the slopes of a giant Formica mound getting the frass knocked out of her around 3 pm. I can't imagine this queen would have made a raid against tens of thousands of workers by herself. Perhaps a nuptial flight that landed in the wrong place?? She died shortly after I plucked her out of this tense situation.
