elmid species 3 - Dubiraphia quadrinotata

elmid species 3 - Dubiraphia quadrinotata
Fall Creek, Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York, USA
July 16, 2007
Size: ~3mm
Stenelmis sp.?

I didn't realize I had a 3rd species of elmid until I saw the photos. Since I put all the elmids I brought home into one container to photograph them, I'm not sure if this one came from the plant in the middle of the creek (in slower moving water), or from a rock in the riffles.

Photographed through the side of a plastic container, in water.

Can't see the surface sculpture well enough to place to species.

ziplock or glad?
Hi Joyce, I've been trying to find a good (optically) container for shooting underwater beetles. Would you mind sharing a few words your setup?
Thanks,
Tim

1/8 inch hard plastic
I just posted a photo of the container here, with information on size, etc..

custom!
aah . . a custom container! I should have guessed, 'cause I haven't been able to find a suitable one to just purchase.

Thanks,
Tim
