Tipulogaster glabrata - Leptogaster flavipes

Tipulogaster glabrata - Leptogaster flavipes
Boyd Conservation Area, Vaughan, York, Ontario, Canada
July 19, 2016
Tipulogaster glabrata is the only identified Leptogastrinid for Ontario on bug guide and seems like a reasonable match for the one I had at the Boyd Conservation Area in Vaughan. I have zero experience with them, however, so confirmation or correction are greatly appreciated!

Moved tentatively
Moved from Leptogaster.

Moved from Leptogastrinae.

to be a Leptogaster species. Not Tipulogaster. Several Leptogaster around the Great Lakes region. I don't have a species list for Ontario. L. flavipes and incisuralis most likely by the maps.

Expert input...
I had BC's robber fly expert pass this on and L. flavipes is the suspected species based on my photo.

I will have to learn a little more about Leptogaster species. I was hoping to find my first one in BC this year, but I was just happy to see one!
