Poplar Blackmine Beetle? - Isochnus sequensi

Poplar Blackmine Beetle? - Isochnus sequensi
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
September 13, 2016
Two leaves with dark blotch mines were collected on 13 Sep, 2016 from a balsam poplar. A mine was uncovered to reveal a white grub on the same date. Two adults emerged on 22 Sep 2016. So far there are three live adults, one dead adult and 2 pupae (as of 23 Sep). The literature leads me to believe that these are Poplar Blackmine Beetles (Zeugophora), of which we have 4 maybe 6 species in New Brunswick. However, they do not look like Zeugophora but rather weevils. Any ideas?
