The Yellowjackets of America North of Mexico REVISED EDITION By Roger Akre, Albert Greene, John Macdonald, Peter J Landolt, Harry G Davis, and Elizebeth Myhre None Unfinished Ms, 1996
This book was meant to be published around 96/97 but was rejected by the publisher at the last minute. Very few manuscripts were made but this lost work fell into obscurity. Recently a scan has been made to salvage this lost work. In comparison to the original book there is much added and the finished product would have turned out great. A readable/downloadable copy of this manuscript can be found here: https://www.academia.edu/5658541/Akre_et_al_1996_The_yellowjackets_of_America_north_of_Mexico_REVISED_EDITION

A tentative synopsis of the Hornets and Yellowjackets of America By Joseph Bequaert Entomologica Americana, 1932
This is the first major revision of North American Vespinae and Vespinae systematics in general. This review provides keys to the North American species as well as provides extensive distributional data and biological notes. Additions and corrections to this publication contaning distributional, biological, and nomenclatiorial information was added in two subsequent publications (1935 and 1941). Links are provided to those below.
Additionally provided below is Bequaert's divisions of the Vespinae which is a prequel to this review and deals with all known species of the Vespinae worldwide that were known at the time.

Biology of the Vespine Wasps By Makoto Matsuura and Seiki Yamane Springer-Verlag, 1990
This is an english translation of the 1984 Japanese work by the same authors titled: Comparative ethology of the Vespine wasps. This book is mainly a review on the biology and behavior of the Japanese Vespinae species, but this work also contains a chapter discussing a comparison between the Eurasian and North American species as well as provides a distributional checklist of the species of Vespinae worldwide. It is a well written and worthwhile read for anyone interested in Hornets and Yellowjackets in east Asia.
