luna moth - Actias luna - female

luna moth - Actias luna - Female
Assaria, Saline County, Kansas, USA
Size: 3-1/2 - 4" wingspan
I wanted to share this luna moth with you. This is the first I have seen here in Kansas. I don't think they are very common, maybe other Kansans on this site can disagree with me. It was a thrill for me to see anyway. I believe this to be a female judging from the size of the antenna, but I could be wrong. Will include an underside view also.

Female
I agree, it seems to be a female.

Thanks.
Thanks Beatriz for the clarification. I was lucky to have seen two of these in my frontyard this summer.

Very beautiful
Always a nice, and thrilling, find!
