why not A. oreasella?
I looked at photos of Argyresthia oreasella (Cherry Shoot Borer) here: [1, 2, 3] and photos of A. austerella here: [1, 2] but didn't notice any obvious differences.

Do you know what distinguishes these two species?

Argyresthia
I Identified it based upon MPG where A. oreasella was not presented as a choice. With what you have shown me, I could not tell the difference either and Northern MN where my photo was taken is close to the Canadian places where A. oreasella is described. You asked the same question of Bob Patterson, did he ever respond?
