Looks like a toothpick grasshopper to me... maybe a nymph of Leptysma marginicollis. But wait for the experts to chime in, as I'm usually about half wrong/right on my IDs

Yes, grasshopper nymph.
I am less inclined to suggest a genus or species though. The "egg," by the way is, um, frass (poop).
