small oval moth - Hypatima
Austin, Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, Travis County, Texas, USA
June 12, 2014
Size: about 8 mm
I have wondered about this common moth for several years and I now think the best match is here. While color and wear vary, the distinctive palps, raised tufts of scales on wings, and general shape seem to match, as well as host plant availability. I'll add a couple other individuals to the guide as well. Any help is welcome if there is disagreement about ID.
