Moth? - Oncometopia orbona

Moth? - Oncometopia orbona
Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
July 23, 2007
Size: 1/2 to 3/4 inches
I found this moth(?) on a blueberry bush. It's been in the same place for a couple of days now. It seems to spend the whole day there. It moves around on the branch when I try to look at it, but otherwise stays pretty still. There is an egg/egg case on the next blueberry bush, but I have no idea if it's from this insect or not.

This is a leafhopper, [url=ht
This is a leafhopper, Oncometopia orbona. I know they are pretty common on my flowers here in Maryland.

Thanks!
Thanks!

Greetings.
Greetings from a former Cincinnatian:-) I may move back one day. I really enjoyed all the greenspace there.

Hi
I agree. Once you get to know the city, there is quite a lot of green space. We've lived here about five years now and still haven't been to all the parks.

If you can't move back, at least come for a visit. Have you heard about The Arc? If not, check it out at http://www.highlandssanctuary.org/

This site was a great find for me. I'm developing our yard into a butterfly garden (nectar and host plants) and have just started to get into identifying our garden visitors.

I'd ask you to recommend an insect field guide, but see that you may not be a totally unbiased authority. :-)
