Funnel-web spider - Agelenidae ? - Agelenopsis
Portland, Cumberland County, Maine, USA
July 24, 2007
Size: 1/2 inch
Looks to me like other photos of Agelenidae in the guide. Any hope for more specific ID? What are the two hanging reddish / brownish semi-circles? What are the two hairy paws below that?

Moved
Moved from Spiders.

Jaws and paws
Agelenidae, yes. The semi-circles are the jaws, and the hairy paws are the pedipalps. This guy's pedipalps look like an adule male's--enlarged at the ends.

Thanks
