Very ornate moth - Eumorpha vitis
Fort Smith, Sebastian County, Arkansas, USA
October 13, 2016
Size: 2.5 by 2.5 inch
Found on the ground early in the morning. Moth was very docile. I relocated to a nearby tree

Location
Just noticed the location of where this moth has been tagged. Is it normal to be this far north?

Yes
These moths and their relatives are strong fliers and will occasionally turn up north of their known breeding range, especially in the fall.

Awesome.
Thanks for the info
