Death Valley Shield Bug - Chlorochroa sayi

Death Valley Shield Bug - Chlorochroa sayi
Badwater, Death Valley, California, USA
April 17, 2004
Size: 1/2-inch
I found it far out onto the salt flats at Badwater in Death Valley. There had been a wind storm and I believe it had been blown in from a more hospitable location.

Moved
Moved from Chlorochroa.

Chlorochroa sp.
This is a great image of a stink bug in the genus Chlorochroa, most likely C. sayi (Say's stink bug).

Fast ID!
Thanks for the quick id, and on the Ophryastes as well. There's a lot more insect life than i had imagined going on in the desert, but the high wind during my trip made macro's a bit iffy...
