striped lady beetle - Myzia interrupta

striped lady beetle - Myzia interrupta
Toms Place, Mono County, California, USA
July 12, 2016
Came to UV light.

Nice!
I thought it might be in that habitat -- but couldn't find it myself. You may have also seen the local colony of Adalia in the birches near the creek.

habitat
This is where I was with the light: 37.58155, -118.68033
If you look it up on a map, it looks near the Owens River but it's at the top of a steep ravine above the river (river not accessible without a significant amount of hiking down a steep hill). Lots of pines and sagebrush; no birches.
Were you near the French Camp campground? I didn't get to spend much time along Rock Creek, unfortunately. I didn't see any Adalia where I was.

Does not sound familiar
I passed through various sites in the area during the day and combed the local vegetation. I sadly lack UV light equipment.

Of note: Myzia interrupta is not well documented. It may well occur on pines themselves as its relatives do, but I've not heard of any records suggesting this yet.

PS. The Adalia were actually at Toms Place itself.

another
It turns out I saw another Myzia interrupta in 2010 at French Camp (the large campground just west of Toms Place). It too came to a UV light.
