Cricket? - Phyllopalpus pulchellus - male

Cricket? - Phyllopalpus pulchellus - Male
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
July 25, 2007
Size: 20mm
This fellow was involved in a mating display with a gray/pink female (?) who took off when the camera came out.

What a fabulous catch!
I saw the cricket that appeared in my house with its wings(?)extended like this, but was unable to capture them in that position. Very frustrating. Fascinating little creatures.

Moved
Moved from Phyllopalpus. There's only this one species in the genus.

Vanishing female
I wouldn't want to be seen with this feather-duster, either. LOL! Nice shot of a really odd critter.

Cricket
Phyllopalpus sp., male. The other individual was indeed a female.
