White Caterpillar eating Dogwood leaves - Macremphytus testaceus

White Caterpillar eating Dogwood leaves - Macremphytus testaceus
Edmonton, Northern Alberta, Alberta, Canada
August 17, 2016
A friend asked this summer, and the following information was shared: "Who can identify this creature? Beautiful as it is, it is eating the leaves of my Siberian Pearls Dogwood! Any ideas on how to control it?" It (they) pupated a few days later and no further photos were taken. Further information: "The head on "my" caterpillars definitely are a purple-blue. My critters are very, very white. I haven't run across pics of such critters in my search yet, except hairy ones, but mine aren't hairy ...". She agreed that I could share this photo with this site.
