The Imperial Moth
So I shared this Imperial Moth Caterpillar with my daughter's kindergarten class. They were able to see the caterpillar, then it dug a whole in some loose dirt we provided & after about 2 weeks later, we uncovered it to allow them to see it after it made the cocoon. Now there are signs that the Imperial Moth (which has been given the name Maybelle for the class pet) is showing signs that Maybelle is about to emerge as a moth. We want to make sure that the children get to see Maybelle the Moth, but the last thing we want to do is kill it. So can anyone help us by letting us know how we need to take care of it as a Moth in captivity until we need to release it. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank y'all!!!

Hannah has written an article
here that may help. But we think, as far as adult moths, the only thing you can do is let them go. Some of them don't even feed as adults. You can research this particular species, starting with the info page here
