Breaking news ...
I was collecting in Sealy, TX recently and collected what I think is the same species and it's a totally new one as far as I know. I sent my specimen to Mockford and haven't heard back yet. I'll keep you informed.

To distinguish this species from other Tapinella under a microscope, what differences should I look for?

Moved from Barklice, Booklice, and Parasitic Lice. Thanks, Diane! I have put it in alcohol and will get it to you.

[Edit: I sent the specimen to Diane, who examined it and commented in January 2017, "There do seem to be several differences between this specimen and the closest one which is an undescribed species '#2'"]

This is Tapinella
and I'd love to see the specimen. I'm pretty sure it is undescribed species #2 but the head looks a bit wider. Could you send me the specimen and I'll take a look. I obviously need to post more images of this group. They happen to be a favorite of mine!
