Size: abt. 1 cm.
Found at high elevation around 10,000 feet.

Moved from subgenus Metasyrphus.

Tergite 5 solid orange-reddish; tergite 4 with spots and not uniformly reddish-yellow to read; spots lunulate rather than straight on the front edge.

Also a first for BugGuide, congrats! I checked and this is the only image of this species we have on the site. Great find :^)
