Luna or Polyphemus cocoon?

Luna or Polyphemus cocoon?
Seneca, Oconee County, South Carolina, USA
October 1, 2016
Size: 2 to 2 1/2 inches
Found in leaf litter under squash plant between a white oak and a red oak. I live in an old wooded area with lots of oaks, hickories, dogwoods, etc. Also found a black pupae about a foot away as well (image submitted for separate I'd). Both are alive. I put it in a plastic container outside in an insulated metal cabinet. How do I care for it til Spring? And what is it?
