There were a good many springtails living in the aged conks I cracked open last weekend, collected on my various trips to Jefferson Notch in my Forest Service-approved
search for Py*tho str*ictus. Few of them got under my camera lens, however. The my naked eye they all appeared to be the same type as this one.
The beetle in view is a Minute Tree Fungus Beetle, family Ciidae.
