Conk springtail - Entomobrya confusa

Conk springtail - Entomobrya confusa
Jefferson Notch area, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
May 5, 2007
Size: about 1.7 mm
There were a good many springtails living in the aged conks I cracked open last weekend, collected on my various trips to Jefferson Notch in my Forest Service-approved search for Py*tho str*ictus. Few of them got under my camera lens, however. The my naked eye they all appeared to be the same type as this one.

The beetle in view is a Minute Tree Fungus Beetle, family Ciidae.
