Is this Arge humeralis? If it does attack Poison Ivy, can we encourage it somehow?

plant?
If the plant you observed the insect on was poison ivy, I think you can consider ID as safe. The colouration is clearly aposematic, just like expected for an insect developing on a highly poisonous plant.

Thanks, Boris. I am adding an image that shows the thorax and abdomen colors, although the head is not shown. Peculiar, but striking. You should doubt my ID. In this case, as well as others, I am just attempting to match images identified on BugGuide and then asking people like you if it is correct.
