Nice catch! So far, most of the images of this species are females. Please compare: (legs are all-black in this species, wings with some yellow in costal cells, no hint of triangles along mid-line of abdomen)
Genus = Stonemyia: ♀ -- Stonemyia tranquilla: ♂ (north-eastern range)

Thanks for the suggestion. There are two species in E. Canada and this one is Stonemyia tranquilla as Bob has stated.
