Which Oecanthus sp.? Thank you in advance!

Moving this to nigricornis group
...but cannot say with 100% certainty whether it is O. nigricornis or O. forbesi. These are the most difficult species to separate. Believe it or not, this is most likely the same species as the darker female images posted from the same area in September. Only a recording of the male's song at a known ambient temperature allows one to say for certain which of the two species it is. Females cannot be ID'd by appearance = only by association with males. (O. nigricornis can be mostly green; forbesi can have a lot of deep black)

The extreme eastern U.S. is felt not to have O. forbesi.

Southern Ontario is close to Ohio - known to have both species.
