Ground Beetle? - Agonum

Ground Beetle? - Agonum
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
March 17, 2005
Size: 10 mm
Found under a paver stone in our backyard. It moved very little as it is still quite chilly up here.

Moved
Moved from Agonum.

Carabidae: Agonum sp.
Eric is correct, it is an Agonum.

Definitely a Ground Beetle
I am GUESSING something from the Pterostichini tribe, possibly a Pterostichus species.

Probably not Pterostichini
It is sometimes helpful to include the size of the specimen, by the way. The body form reminds me of Agonum, but there is simply not enough to go on from the image. Carabids, with few exceptions, are a group that would benefit from either voucher specimens, or images OF mounted specimens, or both, something we might consider for BugGuide (or link to an existing image of a mounted specimen elsewhere).
