planthopper - Megamelus - female

planthopper - Megamelus - Female
Groton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 26, 2007
Size: ~3mm

Camera shy
Every time I tried getting a shot of the face, it would turn the other way:-(

Megamelus
This genus has a strongly produced head that is much narrower than the thorax.

This is a long-winged female. You would have to see the face to be able to identify the species, and it might not be possible even then.

Thanks Eric
The new lens works great on the little bugs.

Delphacidae.
Another blow-me-away image, Tom:-)
