Catocala
The general patterning on the wings is more consistent with Catocala grynea rather than C. praeclara.

I agree; C. grynea is a much better match. Did you look at from the same night - I still think this is a C. praeclara, but my confidence with any of these Catacola sp. is ever diminishing!
