Red-orange - Zophobas atratus

Red-orange - Zophobas atratus
Size: 24 mm
These were purchased at the pet store for classroom pets. During the summer the left over grubs pupated and this is one of the color variations that emerged. Since dispatching it, the beetle has darkened considerably. I don't know why it was this color. The others were black. This one should have had time for hardened elytra as it was a few days old before the photo.
