Damselfly in identity crisis - Argia vivida - male

Damselfly in identity crisis - Argia vivida - Male
Mason Park, Irvine, Orange County, California, USA
July 29, 2007
He isn't like any of the other four damsels I've discovered locally. So who is this beauty? (That brown stripe might aid ID.)

We're still tempted to say
male Argia vivida, but you have so many Argia there, we'll have to check Kathy Biggs' site and see what we find. But at least this may get you started - definitely Argia.

Vivid
I agree that this is a Vivid Dancer, but I'm inclined to say it's a young male that isn't totally blue yet. I'm not totally sure, it just looks like the terminal area of a male.

Bummer
I have shot so many of these and hoped this was different. Guess this one was tired of looking ordinary and went to a custom paint shop for a stripe job. Hey, this is California! Maybe tattoos and piercings will be next.

Well, I can't Argia with you on that.
Had the same thought, but thanks for the redirect. Will poke around a bit.
