Size: 1 1/2 to 2 inches
We saw about 30 caterpillars feasting on sumac leaves. They are a lovely red color that compliments the sumac stems. They are stripping the leaves off the plants.

Certainly one of the Datana
Wagner, pg 297, says the Spotted Datana feeds principally on Sumac! Datana perspicua - no guidepage for it yet on BugGuide.
