Female - Thread-waisted Wasp
The abdomen is short and the hair color is dark. This looks like a female Brown-legged Grass-carrier, Isodontia auripes. (eastern range) The females of this genus do not posses long, tarsal-rake spines on the forelegs. -- 6 abdominal segments = ♀

Male/Female?
The two linked images - one is male, one is female?

Female
If this is two different individuals, then the images should be unlinked. You can add a reference link, (thumbnail-tag) into the text of both images to keep them associated.
I thought that both images were the same female, posing in front of the same caterpillar. You can verify the gender, if you have a shot showing the exact number of antennae segments. (flagellomeres)

Same Subject -
Thank You Mr. Bob Biaqi!
I was confused, I was reading as if one was male and one was female.
The images were taken less than 3 seconds apart, I took 3 images and know I was shooting from a tripod. Same Wasp.

Secondary insect in photo
both photo's have a secondary "hidden" insect - caterpillar - Synchlora

Lens of camera opens a "hidden" world of awe we often overlook.

Thank You BugGuide.net and all who make this site possible - opens an opportunity to explore our fantastic world of "bugs".
