This is a great shot of the outside pattern found on an American Lady. Compare it to this one:

They say to look for the tiny white dot in the middle of the orange field for confirmation.

I just noticed you already had a name for this Butterfly. I saw it in the ID Request section and I'm afraid I didn't read the title of the page. Sorry about that.
