Phanocelia canadensis

Phanocelia canadensis
Searsmont, Waldo County, Maine, USA
October 19, 2013

Moved
Moved from Caddisflies.

Limnephilidae
Nice pic - Phanocelia canadensis. I am not aware of any published records for Phanocelia from Maine so looks you may have a new state record (but not unexpected) for a caddisfly. It would be good to have a specimen in hand to be sure but this critter is pretty distinct. Length (head to wingtip) would also help to verify the determination.

Thank you
I am not finding anything on BugGuide for Phanocelia canadensis, nor for the genus Phanocelia, do pages need to be created?

probably
but I don't do that. if needed someone will.

I can do that
but I need to know the tribe that Phanocelia canadensis falls under

Limnephilidae: Limnephilinae: Chilostigmini
For now you can obtain current higher taxonomy (and a lot more)for all caddis at: http://entweb.sites.clemson.edu/database/trichopt/searchResults.php?offset=1
