Additional Thoughts
Additional thoughts based on location and observations when I took the photograph, as well as this document https://www.fs.fed.us/foresthealth/technology/pdfs/Caterpillars_FHTET-2011-07.pdf. (pages 66-67 of the document).

The above document states that L. pellucidaria prefers dry pine forests while L. fervideria prefers oaks. The trail that we were hiking on was very moist, shady and looking at the pictures before and after this creatures photograph, I don't see any pine trees. The area was so moist that most of my photographs before and after this one were of mushrooms or waterfalls. I am unable to post the picture unfortunately.

Thank you for the additional information. Looks like Jim is right as usual. Will still wait for another opinion as neither I nor Jim has personal experience with this Genus.

Jim, I agree with the Genus. I was thinking L. pellucidaria. I went to the species pages and cannot find information for a tie breaker. Can you enlighten me?

Ann, unfortunately I cannot.
Ann, unfortunately I cannot. I am personally unfamiliar with pellucidaria and it didn't figure into my comment. I looked at the pages and do not see anything that seems to clear up the ambiguity.

Thanks, hoped you had THE answer.
