Springtail - Desoria canadensis

Springtail - Desoria canadensis
Mer Bleue Bog, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
January 2, 2017
Size: ~1mm
Many of these springtails were found active on the surface of disturbed areas of snow in subzero (~ -1°C in the sun) temperatures. The habitat was a wetland mostly composed of cattails.

Moved from Desoria.

Desoria sp.

Thanks for the ID Frans!

Desoria canadensis
is the best match.

Close enough... deserve a new species page?

Close enough...
for anyway ;-)

Which is good enough for me. :)
You also suggested that the specimen below might be D. canadensis--but the coloration seems quite different.

Should these images be moved as well?

the colouration looks different. But it still is the best match. It is best to put them together for now.

Feel free...
to use the image on if you would like :)
