Unfortunately, and I don't know why, but I didn't record the type of leaf this was on. Are there similar spindle shaped galls that would cause confusion with identification. Outside the realm of insects and mites I noticed that there appears to be some type of spore stalks on the spindle on the left. Anybody happen to know what that might be? Ok to frass if tree species is needed for id.
