Unicorn - Arigomphus villosipes - female

Unicorn - Arigomphus villosipes - Female
Burlington, Halton, Ontario, Canada
July 24, 2008
This angle shows the spike on the Unicorn Clubtails occiput (bar between the eyes), this ones is bent forward but they can be up straight too. The similar looking Lilypad Clubtail will not have this horn on the occiput and it can be useful feature to look for on females especially (or if you didn't get shots of the female reproductive parts or male tail appendage)
