Unknown caterpillar with lateral fringe - Tolype velleda

Unknown caterpillar with lateral fringe - Tolype velleda
Greenfield, Hillsborough County/ County, New Hampshire, USA
July 28, 2007
Size: 2-2.5"
This caterpillar was clinging to a rough, dark wood wall at a bathroom facility at Greenfield State Park. It hung out all day without moving. The lateral fringe felt stiff and the caterpillar only flinched a bit when touched - it wasn't going anywhere. Note paired brown dorsal knobs on all segments.
