Giant Walkingstick - Diapheromera - male - female

Giant Walkingstick - Diapheromera - Male Female
Choke Canyon State Park South Unit, Live Oak County, Texas, USA
October 10, 2016
During a trip to Texas, I accidentally flushed a large walkingstick while hiking through a scrub area. It landed out of sight on the back of a tree. I couldn't find it, so I just shot a picture of the general area where I thought it had landed, hoping that I could spot it in the photo when I got home. Sure enough, it appears to be a mating pair. I read somewhere that Giant Walkingstick males have spurs on their hind legs. This guy certainly has big spurs. I'm unfamiliar with southern insects. Could this be a pair of Giant Walkingsticks? Sorry about the poor quality of the photos. The photos were huge crops out of a photo that included the entire tree. At the time, I just couldn't see them.
