1.3 miles NW of Campwood, Edwards County, Texas, USA
January 20, 2017
We have had an unusually warm January and this one was quite a surprise. It has laid eggs, but I will have a hard time finding any vegetation to feed the larva!

Submitted to BOLD and specimen an be seen in the public database as TXLEP352-17. It was moved to species by Christian Schmidt along with one other.

Moved from Speranza.

This specimen has been identified by BOLD as D. colorata and can be seen at TXLEP352-17 in the public database. I was shocked because we do NOT have Creosote Bush on our place and the caterpillars did not eat anything I offered it. A new mystery to solve!

Moved
Moved from Four-spotted Speranza.

Back to the drawing board. I have been told this is incorrect by an expert. Am now looking a S. quadrilinearia which looks to be quite variable.
