Thanks, Blaine. I had it posted under the genus Curculio and it was there for quite a while. I reposted it as a way of flagging it in the hopes I could, at least, get some feedback on my species guess as I indicated in my comment.

My main question is should I be left to assume that I can't get this pinned down to a species from just these photos? If that's the case, I'll stop working on it (and bugging other people about it!)
