I hate for these Gelchids to go undentified, so I went looking through the spreads. This is in range and might look okay from the top and the side, but certainly in not the profile I think of for Chionodes. BOLD and it looks to have heavy dotting on the fringe line.

Ann: What do you think about
Ann: What do you think about Filatima natalis? The photo on BOLD looks pretty close. Per BOLD seen Arizona and Oregon so Texas may be possible.

Texas?
Is this from South Florida as labeled or from Texas?

I thought this moth was from Florida! If not, all bets off.

In my opinion Filatima profiles very well with your moth. When studying it the first time I looked closely at F. hemicrossa because it has a range into Florida. I did not mention it because I think they have very crisply marked legs and I did not think the legs of your moth were distinctive enough, but I may be wrong about EVERYTHING.

As for F. natalis, with only one spread to go on and so out of range I would not go there. Additionally I did not see the definite ST dotting and I did see a dark shading in the PM area not seen on your specimen.
