Coleophora, amaranth - Coleophora lineapulvella

Coleophora, amaranth - Coleophora lineapulvella
Meadow Farm, Winneshiek County, Iowa, USA
September 23, 2016
A number of these larvae were found feeding in the seedheads of amaranth (Amaranthus sp.).

Looks like there is at least one Coleophora on amaranth; perhaps this is that one? Are there others that feed on amaranth, or any generalist Coleophora?

Rearing in progress

Moved
Moved from Coleophora.

Coleophora lineapulvella appears to be the only species with amaranth as a published host, and the moths I reared from amaranth in my garden (from larvae/cases like yours) do resemble the ones identified as this species on BugGuide.

Excellent
Thank you
