misidentification

It's a sawfly rather than a braconid. Perhaps the red-headed ash sawfly.

What genus-species do you have in mind?

I certainly welcome any and all timely corrections of my explicitly uncertain "likely" ID suggestions

It had reminded me of this sort of creature, but these Hymenoptera sure are prone to color convergence and I don't claim to know them all as well as I would like:

Note in particular the orange costal margin and stigma which led me to think Braconidae
