Tick - Amblyomma maculatum

Tick - Amblyomma maculatum
Baker, Okaloosa County, Florida, USA
August 4, 2007
Size: Body 3/16 inch
Is this the correct ID for this tick? Recent diagnosis of tick related disease in the family and wish we had kept the one that caused it. This individual was picked up in same location and is very similar.

I'm not an expert and may not be much help, but you do seem to have the right ID for this critter. An earlier post on this species had a link with info you may find useful: http://vector.ifas.ufl.edu/chapter_05.htm
