Robber Fly - Bee Eater - Mallophora fautrix

Robber Fly - Bee Eater - Mallophora fautrix
Houston - Spring Branch Area, Harris County, Texas, USA
August 3, 2007
Size: 3/4" approx.
See posting this date from California. It captured the bee in the photo while I was taking a series of shots.

Indeed
Mallophora fautrix does range from CA across AZ to TX and it appears shots were taken in CA and TX this week.

Mallophora fautrix - Bee Eater
Herschel, thanks for providing the ID for my Bee Eater. It was back again today. I will try to move this to the "Guide" section, as the Guide does not seem to have a picture of the Mallophora fautrix actually eating a bee.
