Olethreutinae - Hystrichophora taleana

Olethreutinae - Hystrichophora taleana
Dinesen Prairie, Shelby County, Iowa, USA
June 6, 2016
I had previously reared Hystrichophora taleana on Lead plant, Amorpha canescens, but did not get a photo of the larva. Since BG had no larva photo, I went looking for larvae for a photo but would also have to rear so that I could connect the larva to the adult.

June 3, 2016: collected larvae on Lead plant in a prairie remnant.
June 6, 2016: unfortunately I was a bit late in photographing, found pupae and what may be this pre-pupa larva
June 16, 2016: 1 adult emerged
June 17, 2016: 1 adult emerged
June 24, 2016: a Red-banded Leafroller, Argyrotaenia velutinana, emerged

Since there was more than one species of moth in the Lead plant, I didn't know for sure that the photographed larva photo was indeed Hystrichophora taleana. Terry Harrison confirmed, "Yes, your lead plant-feeding larva is Hystrichophora taleana.
